Recruitment

What is involved with singing with the Choir

The Choir is always looking to attract new recruits – young or not so young. You will not be required to have a solo quality voice but to harmonise and sing in tune and have the ability to learn and retain the extensive range of music as (with most choirs) we perform at events without music copies.

Best British Choir

As with any other group/establishment there must be a commitment to the choir. It is beneficial to you (unless work commitments or any other factor prevent this) to attend practise twice weekly on a Tuesday and Thursday evening at Bethlehem Chapel - Broad Street in Blaenavon between 7.30pm and 9.00pm and perform, when able at the many concerts/events/weddings that the choir undertake every year.

If you think you would like to join the Choir - come along and listen and you can see how the four parts that make up a Male Voice Choir work - there is no commitment to join but you will be able to see where you could fit in - don't be afraid to come and listen you will be most welcome and remember you will not be singing on your own but with a great bunch of blokes in the section which suits you..

Although the overwhelming main aim is to blend musically we also nurture the aim to blend sociably and the involvement of all family members is promoted.

The Choir performs in may places all over the country and World from tiny Chapels to Grand Cathedrals and Music Halls and also taking part in music competitions.

What will I achieve with the Choir?

Singing with the Blaenavon Male Voice Choir will be an unforgettable experience. The first time you walk onto a stage and sing to an audience after the hard, but enjoyable time learning new music will live with you for the rest of your life.

Choir Practice

Speak to the current members, old and new and they will share with you stories of past concerts and trips (many overseas – America, Canada, Spain, France, Norway and we will now be singing with the Welsh National Opera in the coming weeks and the great “after glows” (thats a pint and a sing song – normally in a local hostelry which always goes down well)

Music copies are provided free of charge and travel to concerts where a bus in involved is also provided free of cost.

In 2015, the Choir performed at the Cornish International choral competition and came away with the achievement of best British Choir and came 3rd in the International competition.

We are always pleases to welcome choristers of all ages – age is no barrier to singing.

Come along to a practise evening either on a Tuesday or Thursday at Constitutional Club, James Street, Blaenavon, NP4 9Ej between 7.30pm and 9.00pm and listen to the choir in practise or contact our secretary:
