Idol Rave

Idol Rave newspaper article

WOS Idol hopeful Tom Davies hopes he's got the credentials to be crowned a winner in our contest to find the most gorgeous guy and girl in Wales.

The Maesteg student is one of the entrants for our WoS Idol comp, and hopes he can convince us he's got what it takes to win a fun-filled VIP week in nightclub capital Ibiza, courtesy of top Swansea nightclub Escape.

Tom told us, " I was encouraged to enter by my family and friends and I believe that I should win WoS Idol 2004 because I have a sporting personality and smile to match."

A true Welshman, Tom loves playing rugby and hopes to study art at university.

Up against Tom is 23 year old James Rice, from Cwmbran, who said: "I'm quite fit because I work out a lot at the gym. I'm trying to get into either the police force or the fire service - I've heard that girls find a guy in a uniform really sexy - and am currently unattached, so if any young ladies out there are interested please let me know!

"I think that I could be the Wales on Sunday Idol because girls say they find my ice blue eyes and chiselled features very sexy and I was once told that - when I let my hair grow a bit and wear the same clothes as he did- I resemble a young James Dean"

He also says he does a mean Tom Cruise impression and has a great sense of humour.

Postman Gareth James, from Ystalyfera, Swansea, plays semi-professional rugby for Narberth RFC and loves spending time with his girlfriend Joanna.

He said: "It would be nice to win as I haven't been to Ibiza since I was very young and also it would be great for my regular customers on my round."

Our female hopefuls this week include Bridgend's answer to Catherine Zeta Jones, Gemma Rose.

She was a Miss Wales finalist last year and is studying air travel.

Her mum, Stacey said " I know she would love to win as she goes to Escape In The Park every year. She is a party chick and my beautiful gem."

But Jodie Harrington, a 22 year old beauty therapist from Cardiff, is also hoping to win the title.

She's a self-confessed shopaholic and said: "I think I should be crowned WoS Idol 2004 because I'm up for a laugh, got a great sense of humour and I'm proud to be a Welsh girl.

"People say my best features are my high cheekbones and long legs."
