The Society meets to sail at Cwmbran Boating Lake (weather permitting):

Regular Sailing Times

  • Sunday: 09:00 – 12:00

  • Wednesday: 13:00 – 16:00

  • CMS also have permission on Wednesdays to sail until park gates close.

Holiday Sailing Times

When the Council operates the rowing boats during school and bank holidays:

  • Sunday: Sailing finishes at 12:30

  • Wednesday: Sailing starts at 18:00

Cwmcarn Forest Lake

Cwmcarn Forest Drive, Newport NP11 7EX

As of June 2023, CMS has approval to use the lake at Cwmcarn Forest.

Parking

  • Car park tickets are available from the Visitors Centre.

Sailing Information

  • Sailing may take place at any time, in coordination with other lake users.

  • The lake is sometimes used by young people for organised adventure activities.

    • CMS has been asked to defer to these groups for their safety and the safety of RC models.

  • The west end of the pond has a small island and sluice, which is best avoided.

Restrictions

  • No time restrictions apply — enjoy the water whenever conditions allow.
