Welcome to Cwmbran Modelling Society
Our home waters are located at Cwmbran Boating Lake , where everyone is welcome to enjoy an impressive range of marine models on our regular sailing days (Sunday mornings and Wednesday afternoons), along with cars, trucks, planes, and more during our open day events.
Visitors are encouraged to chat with our members, learn about the hobby, and experience the warm atmosphere that makes our club so special.
A welcome addition is the Boathouse Café, which is located adjacent to our sailing area, and offers a welcome range of food and hot drinks for those colder days, as well as cool drinks and ice lollies during the summer months.
For the less physically able, a ramp with a gentle incline leads to the sailing area at the main lake, making it accessible for most.
The site features one large lake for the more seaworthy vessels, along with two smaller lakes ideal for models that may benefit from a more "hands‑on" approach.
Conveniently located public toilets are only a few steps away, ensuring easy access during your visit.

Please note:

No IC‑powered models are permitted on the ponds at Cwmbran Boating Lake.
When We Meet
CMS usually has a variety of models on display when we meet and sail:

Sunday: 09:00 – 12:00

Wednesday: 13:00 – 15:30

All sessions are weather permitting.
Our Approach
The emphasis at CMS is not on modelling ability or technical skill, but on the enjoyment of the hobby.

Newcomers with no modelling experience are supported by other members.

It’s always rewarding to see yesterday’s novices passing on their knowledge to newer — and sometimes longer‑standing — members.
