Jane Dorsett is a textile artist specialising in rag rugs, bags and teaching all over Wales.
She has been making rugs for several years, and started whilst attending a patchwork and quilting group. Since then she has become addicted to this age old craft.
Jane takes a special interest in keeping traditional crafts alive and her interests are not only in rag rugs, but also embroidery and stitching.
Green issues are relevant to her work and recycling is an important issue in her art. It is making a new project out of old clothes that gives her a buzz!
This year is full of demonstrations and workshops in Cwmbran Library and all over Torfaen and South Wales.
Jane can supply all rag rugging requirements, tools, frames, fabrics and buttons as well as information on the care and restoration of old rugs. She is available for talks, demonstrations and advice on rag rugs and Welsh textiles.
Jane is also co-ordinator of Torfaen Textile Artists, Cwmbran. They meet weekly at Co-star in the Threepenny Bit Hall, Greenmeadow, Cwmbran.
