My DREAM

by Fred Coleman

Inspired by events in Iraq

Lord I had dream last night

Of a third world war

Where men women and children died

Score on Score On score

I heard the screams of children

As they watched their parents die

While blue black smoke curled upwards

To fill the once blue sky

I heard the marching armies

Thousands thousands strong

I heard the screams of agony

Above a battle song

I heard the rumbling of the tanks

The bomb dropped from a plane

Lord oh Lord in my dream

The world had gone insane

I saw the horsemen of the apocalypse

Riding o’er the world

As death disease and famine

Once more become unfurled

I saw the devil laughing

Happy full of mirth

That evil had taken over

Our lovely mother earth

I saw Pandora’s box

It lay there open wide

While the horsemen continued

There never ending ride

Yes Lord I am frightened

I pray you intervene

Give me back my peaceful nights

And take away my dream

Enter now the hearts of men

I feel its up to you

Where there’s hate put love Oh Lord

Don’t let my dream come true
