So what is Torfaen Young People’s Forum?

It is an opportunity for all young people aged 11-25 living in Torfaen to have a say in issues that affect their lives

It is a chance to meet other young people living in Torfaen and to find out their views

It is a system in which young people can influence the people who make decisions
-
It is a chance for young people to plan and take action on issues that are important to them
How does it work?
The Forum meets evey month at different places throughout Torfaen. Any young person is welcome to attend. The meetings are an opportunity for young people to get together, discuss and get involved in a range of issue that affect them. They also have the opportunity to go away for residential weekends and take part in lots of activities (take a look at some of the photos) as well as planning how to tackle really important issues like bullying.
What have the Forum done so far?

Applied for funding and appointed a Trainee Forum Worker to support young people who want to get involved with the work of the Forum

Made a presentation to local councillors about bullying issues and suggested solutions. Helped to create the Anti- Bullying Co-ordinators post.

Represented young people's views to the people who make decisions about things that happen in Torfaen.

Trained the workers to run the Play Scheme over the summer

Currently working on a new logo and marketing campaign for the Forum
These are just a few of the important things that the young people of the Forum have done. However Its not just the issues that are important its also an opportunity to make lots of new friends, have a laugh and try somthing new.
