Below is feedback from the Jan's Participation Group who took part in the workshop at Llanyrafon Social Centre in November:
What would you change in Torfaen?
1. Advertising of services / jobs for under 16’s
2. Adult age should be 18 everywhere (not full price at 14/16)
3. Young people’s discount cards
4. Cheaper services for young people in Torfaen
5. Children’s play areas in pubs
6. a free activity centre in Torfaen (to include: paintballing; rock climbing; mountain biking; outdoor activities / survival courses)
7. Hobby clubs
JOBS FOR UNDER 16'S - What can we do about it?
Jobs for under 16’s
What needs to change?
· Large organisations need to be more open to offer young people jobs (working within the law)
How?
· By encouraging employers to take on under 16’s and apply for the permits required.
Who should be responsible?
· Careers and employers
DISCOUNT CARDS FOR YOUTHS - What needs to change?
· Access to cheaper things
· Discounts from shops and leisure
How?
· Create a young people’s discount card
· Let young people design card
