Cwmavon Village

New Building

The end of an era and the beginning of a new one.

Our new Village Hall

Grand opening was on May 9th.

An inaugural lunch was held to celebrate our beautiful hall and all who had helped us in any way, were invited to join us in a wonderful lunch prepared by Carole and her helpers. Priscilla gave a

blessing for the hall.

In the evening, the majority of the villagers and  friends, who had previously lived in the village, gathered together for a superb buffet and an evening of wonderful entertainment. The Garndiffaith Gleemen provided nearly an hour of marvelous choral singing and Ken followed on with disco  music  from the 60's, 70's, and 80's. Many people danced the night away and at 11.00pm, the festivities concluded . The whole day was a great success.

The actual rebuilding of the hall seemed to progress very slowly, but when you consider the difficulties encountered by the engineers, architect and the buiders, it was surprising that the hall was completed so soon.

After the footings were laid, we all thought how small the area was but as the walls went up it

looked more spacious. The steel girders were erected for the construction of the klestry roof.
