BB help

1. Choose an ISP (Internet Service Provider) to provide your new broadband service.

2. Register for the service online using your current dial up connection, or contact them directly by telephone.

3. The ISP will then arrange for tests to take place on your telephone line (this will determine whether you can receive broadband on your line and the speeds available.

4. If the telephone line checks suggest broadband is availalbe, the ISP will Request Broadband activation on your line.

5. If you have requested a broadband modem from your ISP this should arrive shortly after successful telephone line checks (Some ISP provide a modem free of charge)

6. (a) Unpack your modem (b) Install the software on the cd provided following any on screen instructions (c) Plug the modem into a spare USB port on your computer (d) Attach the phone cable to the modem at one end and one of the micro filters to the other (e) plug the micro filter into your phone socket (f) If you have a telephone plug this into the micro filter where labelled (g) attach a micro filter to each phone you are using on the same phone line as the broadband (you might need to purchase extra filters depending on the number of telephones you have)

7. Most Broadband modems have two lights, USB and ADSL. The USB light tells you whether the modem is Successfully connected to the PC and the ADSL light tells you whether the modem had connected to the broadband service. This light will flash until your service has been activated.

8. Once your broadband service is active ie the ADSL light is constantly on or you have received confirmation from your ISP you need to note your username and password to connect to the service.

9. Once you have your password, follow your ISPs instructions to connect to the Internet.

10. You should now be free to enjoy the benefits of broadband.

Please Note this is a guide only ---Always follow advice/instruction from your ISP.
