Croesyceiliog V Rhydyfelin

26 April 2006

Croesy go into their penultimate game of the season knowing a win will definitely secure 2nd Division status for another season no matter what Rumney and Brynithel do in their remaining games. After beating Brynmawr on Saturday we leap-frogged Nantymoel again but they have two games in hand. Rhydyfelin are the next team above Croesy and a win on Wednesday and on Saturday would put us level on points with them if they fail to pick any more wins this season (although they have a far superior points ratio).

There are several changes from Saturday's team, the most noticable being a first start for youth team second row Tom Price after impressing the coaches when he came on as a replacement against Brynmawr. Darryl Thomas shows his versatility by swopping from tight head to loose head to make way for the returning Justin Smith with Marc Watkins dropping to the bench. Chris Williams reverts to his familiar blind side position after filling in at 2nd row on Saturday. Steven Thomas will retain the No.8 berth if he passes a fitness test otherwise Jake Nash will slot into that position.

The only different face in the backline from Saturday is the return of wing Matt Hiatt, but to accommodate him and cover for the unavailable Chris Landry, permit player Darryl Carter moves from full back to outside half and David Davies from wing to full back.

The full team is as follows:

1. D Thoma 2. A Axford (or J Edwards) 3. J Smith 4. R Gibbins 5. T Price 6. C Williams 7. B Pike 8. S Thomas (or J Nash) 9. R Williams 10. D Carter 11. M Hiatt 12. S Copsey 13. S Fitzgerald 14. J Misljen 15. D Davies subs from J Edwards; J Nash; J Sargent; M Watkins; I Wakefield.
