Pill Harriers V Croesyceiliog

21 January 2006

Croesy go to Pill on Saturday looking for a big improvement in the performance against Brynithel last week. There is a huge confidence boost for the players with the long-awaited first appearance of the season for club captain Craig Saunders. Craig has been out since being involved in an accident in his works van at the beginning of last summer which required surgery to his spine. But he has been working very hard in training and has been doing full contact since the start of December and is now raring to go. He steps in at No. 8 in place of Steven Thomas in one of 6 changes to the pack that started last week. Other changes see Peter Douglas-Davies step in at loose-head and Gareth Cowans at hooker for the injured Marc Watkins and Anthony Axford respectively. Lee Williams starts after coming off the bench last week and is joined in the second row by Ritchie Gibbins enabling Larry (C) Williams to revert to his more familiar position of blind-side after a couple of appearances in the second row.

The only change in the backs sees the return to the wing of Matthew Hiatt who had exam commitments last week.

The full side is: 1. P Douglas-Davies; 2. G Cowans; 3. J Smith; 4. L Williams; 5. R Gibbins; 6. C Williams; 7. B Pike; 8. C Saunders (capt); 9. N Powell; 10. C Landry; 11. R Davies; 12. M Entwistle; 13. D Davies; 14. M Hiatt; 15. G Roberts.

Subs from: R Williams; P Hicks; D Thomas; M Watkins; J Nash; J Sargent.
