Croesyceiliog V Newport Saracens

16 March 2006

Croesy will need to be on top of their game for this rearranged clash with near neighbours Newport Saracens. Saracens are second in the league but have games in hand on leaders Bargoed and have only lost once in the league this season. But they will be well aware that they came close to defeat in their home fixture with Croesy in January and that they were beaten by Croesy in the corresponding fixture this time last year, also an evening game at Woodland Road.

The game will see a first start at senior level for promising youth team prop Darryl Thomas who has come off the bench on several occasions this season. Anthony Axford moves back to hooker after playing on the flank in the team that beat Rumney last time out. The back row sees the return of Paul Hicks at blind-side with Chris Williams coming in on the open in place of unavailable Bobby Pike.

In the backs, Ritchie Williams starts at scrum-half and the only other change sees Scott Copsey returning from injury at outside centre.

The full side is: 1. D Thomas; 2. A Axford; 3. J Smith; 4. L Williams; 5. R Gibbins; 6. P Hicks; 7. C Williams; 8. J Nash; 9. R Williams; 10. C Landry; 11. M Hiatt; 12. M Entwistle (capt); 13. S Copsey; 14. R Davies; 15. D Davies; subs from: M Watkins, J Edwards, J Sargent, N Powell, S Fitzgerald, J Misljen and any other available squad members.

All players meet at Woodland Road 6.00 p.m. Kick off 7.15 p.m.
