Cockerels Comments

10 November 2005

For once the Cockerels are able to pick from a position of strength for Saturday's game against Mountain Ash at Woodland Road.  As well as selecting a team, 4 replacements and 2 players on standby there are 7 players available to play for Girlings.

The club welcomes new signing Peter Douglas-Davies. A product of Abertillery Youth, Peter hasn't played for a couple of seasons but is a former Wales Youth loose head prop although these days is looking to play in the back row.

It is no coincidence that so many players are suddenly available with Wednesday's game against Cwmbran to look forward to; the one everyone wants to play in.  This is the second in what will hopefully become a traditional annual match as the two sides compete for the Jack Walker Cup.  This year's game takes place at the King's Head Ground, home of Cwmbran, 7.15 ko.

Next Friday (18th November) is another special day for the club with a presentation evening in honour of the club's Life Members.  As well as making a presentation to existing Life Members, a number of new Life Members will be introduced.  There is an open invitation to all players, committee and supporters, old and new to what should be a great night in the club, a chance to renew old aquaintances and for some of the younger members to get to know how much some of the elder statesmen of the club have done over the years to get the club where it is today.  Please spread the word - the more the merrier!
