Abercynon V Croesyceiliog

22 March 2006

Croesy take on Abercynon on Wednesday evening (22nd March) in a rearranged league game. The Cockerels defeated Abercynon 32-17 at home in January playing probably their best rugby of the season so go into this game looking for a double. This is the start of a crucial 10-day period for Croesy as they entertain Bargoed on Saturday followed by Rhydyfelin next Wednesday and Nantymoel on Saturday 1st April.

Tight head Justin Smith misses only his second game of the season and youth team prop shows his versatility by switching from the loose allowing allowing Marc Watkins to return. Anthony Axford drops to the bench allowing Jamie Edwards a well deserved opportunity at hooker. Bobby Pike comes back in on the open-side with Chris Williams reverting to his prefered blind-side in place of the unlucky broken leg victim Paul Hicks.

Nathan Powell comes back in at scrum-half with the only other change in the backs seeing Stuart Fitzgerald come onto the wing for unavailable Matt Hiatt.

The full team is: 1. M Watkins; 2. J Edwards; 3. D Thomas; 4. L Williams; 5. R Gibbins; 6. C Williams; 7. B Pike; 8. J Nash; 9. N Powell; 10. C Landry; 11. R Davies; 12. M Entwistle (capt) 13. S Copsey; 14. S Fitzgerald; 15. D Davies;

Subs from: A Axford; P Douglas-Davies; J Sargent; R Williams; J Misljen.

All players meet at club 5.30 p.m. - sandwiches etc will be provided. No transport - taking own cars.
