Meach Memorial Game 4th April 2008

Croesy Former Meach Team Mates

v

Girling Former Meach Team Mates

There was an excellent crowd at the Coffee Bar to pay tribute to former Croesy and Girling player John Meachen who sadly died on Boxing Day. The senior game was preceded by under 14 game between Croesy (who Meach was helping to coach until his untimely death) and Risca.

The main match was played in true Meach fashion with no quarter asked or given. The Croesy side included the following bunch of club stalwarts and has beens:

  • Anthony Gardner
  • Lee "Buddha" Yemm
  • Terry Meachen
  • Jamie Crowley
  • Mark Bodenham
  • Ian Hendy
  • Dai "Bubbles" Hinwood
  • Mike "Lurch" Rainsford
  • Kevin Jones
  • "Waddy" Wade
  • Mike Burton
  • Tyron "Sarge" Axford
  • Kevin Evans
  • Dai "Mowgley" Rowlands
  • Chris "Bomber" Bailey
  • Darren Harris
  • Colin Wilmott
  • Jon "Buz" Berrow
  • Chris Johns
  • Anthony Harris
  • Martin "Fat A**e" Lewis
  • Andrew Paraskeva
  • Don Ridout
  • David "Puffer" Powell
  • Graham Buckley

The result wasn't important (that means Croesy lost) but Girlings were about half our average age, not that I'm making excuses. But seriously, the result wasn't important. A great night was had by all and what was most important was that a total of £1,500 was raised for Meach's wife Michelle and family.

Thanks very much to everyone for their support.
