Christmas Message
Well we've made it through the first half of the season. It was always going to be a difficult start with new coaches trying to pick the club up and rebuild confidence after a poor end to last season. There have been a few ups and downs but if you look at the improvement in performances recently there is no doubt we are going in the right direction. When you see how many young players we had involved in the first team and development team games last week, the future has to be bright.
With half the season to go our initial target has to be to avoid relegation which I am confident we will achieve and then I think we should be looking at a top half of the league finish. If we can achieve that, looking further ahead, with the change to Division 1 East and West next season I think we should be aiming for 1 East in 18 months time.
Another key aim for next year is to reform a second team at the club, whether it is called "Seconds" or " Development" I really don't mind but the important thing is that we are able to retain all the young talent we having coming through the youth and young Croesy sections.
I would like to remind all players i.e. firsts, development, youth and past players that we will be holding the annual Under 30s v Over 30s game on 27th December at Woodland Road. All players meet at 11.00 a.m. Kick off at 12.00. This will be followed by the usual post match festivities and merriments including broom races, boats races etc. I can promise all players a healthy beer kitty. The Christmas raffle will take place at 5.00 p.m. so make sure you have bought your tickets by then.
Until then, here's wishing you all a merry christmas and a happy new year.
Colin Wilmott
