Pontypool Town AFC
Pontypool Town AFC is still a very new club in historical terms, as it was only established in 1988.
Based at Albion Road Playing Fields, the club has much tradition to boast, such as the only club with 'Pontypool' in their title and until recently they wore the famous red/black/white hooped socks of our famous rugby team Pontypool RFC. The club colours remain the traditional red and black, with a change of strip being modernised from the old black/white stripes to an all white strip (very brave!).
The 90's were seen as the glory days for 'Town', lifting four cups and finishing runners-up in the League on three occasions. Since the Millennium the club has gone through some turbulent times but has always kept going with two teams providing football opportunities for the local community and in recent years were privileged to receive personalised coaching from an FAW coaching expert.
This has recently paid dividends as in season 2006/07 Pontypool Town B won the Gwent Central League Division Two for the first time in our history. The club is run by a committee and has an excellent relationship with local Councillors and businesses, namely Cllr Len Constance and the main sponsors 'The Bell Inn' as the club headquarters for after match refreshments and excellent food.
Each season the club strives to promote local businesses in the community by receiving a sponsorship fee.
The fee is then used to promote/advertise your business via our website and the local newspaper 'The Free Press'.
Any donation is always welcome and much appreciated. If you are interested, please conact us by visiting www.pontypool-town-afc.co.uk.|
