Cwmbran Angling Nobblers Wales

River Wye

Symonds Yat Newport Opened  26/02/06 (18)

1st Neil Evans Cheltnam 20lb 10oz

2nd Pete Jones Newport 16lb 3oz

3rd Rob Skellett, Cwmbran Nobblers 15lb 10oz

On a cold day, bites were hard to come by with only 3 dace being caught in the first hour and half. Neil Evans fished freeder all day to net 10 hungry chub to 3lb all falling to double maggot.

Pete drew the in form peg 4 but struggled after netting a 2lb chubb first cast. Rob Skell had a dace a chuck for an hour, but they drifted off to the middle of the river after that.

A hard Match , but it was -1 i suppose!!

Symonds Yat Newport Opened 12/02/06 (19)

1st Rob Skellett,Cwmbran Nobblers 57lb12oz

2nd Alan Symmonds, Cheltnam 35lb2oz

3rd Trevor Bradley, Newport 28lb 9oz

The river was cold and clear but that didnt stop some great weights coming out.

Chubb and dace fed well throughout. Rob Skell caught well for 4 hours off fancied peg 3 with dace, chubb, perch and even a 7lb pike that fell to breadflake making up his topper caught 57lb.

Alan Symmonds did well off the next peg up to Rob considering he only brought 2pnts of maggots (he moaned about it all day!).

Alan caught well on waggler tackticts to beat Trevor Bradley into 3rd place with his mainly chubb caught 28lb bag.

Hereford

Small chubb to 1lb are the matchmans target speciese right now, with the massive shoals of Roach not wanting to feed. Fancied pegs are still in the nineties opposite the rowing club and also peggs 60 - 65 providing great match weights.

Pike sport is slow for this time of year but considering how clear and cold the river has been over the last few weeks, it's not supprising. There was a confirmed report of a lad in a match hooking and landing a 29lb 9oz monster that tried to steal his dace! What a fish!!!

A coarse angling club that meets on a regular basis and fish national competitions.
