History

During the early 1960's a group of anglers who's lives revolved around Cwmbran New Towns Largest Employer, Girling organised trips far and wide with one aim in mind, that of catching a large bag of fish.

This group of young men decided that what Cwmbran needed was a professionally run Angling Association, providing Angling for the people of Cwmbran and its surrounding areas.

It all started on the 3rd  September 1963, at the Kings Head Hotel in Pontnewydd where the first Legal Constitution was adopted, and Cwmbran Angling Association was Born.

Its first committee was adopted and given the authority to develop. Looking at models from Pontypooland Newport Angling Associations, it was decided that Cwmbran needed a bright new approach to attract members from the existing clubs.
