Club Membership
We are a small bowls club with only about seventeen members, but because of holidays and illness we are constantly struggling to have enough ladies available to make up a team.
If any ladies would like to join our club they would be made welcome, starting this year on April 27th we practice on Wednesday afternoon 2pm to 4 pm, (weather permitting) coaching is available to anyone who needs it.
Membership of the ladies club is £8.00 per year, the green fees for this year are £16.00 for juniors and Pensioners and £32.50p for wage earners.
At our clubhouse we also have two mats for short mat bowling, these are put down in the clubhouse for members to use in the winter months, this winter we paid £1.50p each for a two hour session, this is to cover the rental cost of the pavilion.
During the year we hold several special events for our members, and often we invite non members to these events click here to view the diary of events.
2006 season we were fortunate to welcome four new members to our club, two of these were the Packwood twins Kerry and Kelly.
The twins have been playing indoor bowls at Cwmbran Stadium since they were thirteen years of age, but last year they decided that they would like to try playing the game outdoors. They coped with the transition from indoor to outdoor very well indeed.
The twins gained much success playing indoors and some of their achievements are listed below.
Welsh under 25 four wood singles champion, Kelly 2005, Kerry 2006.
World under 25 four wood singles Championship 2006 Kelly semi finalist and Kerry winner.
Welsh triples finalists 2003-2004
Welsh triples winners 2007
British Isles triples winners 2007
Charity fours Plate winners 2005
Welsh under 25 Internationals 2001-2007
Welsh Senior Internationals 2004-2007
They have both had much success in many other tournaments, and the ladies of Garndiffaith wish them every success for the future on the outdoor arena as well as indoors.
Another of our ladies Kath Samuel together with three other ladies from Torfaen won the Welsh Fours competition and represented Wales in Ireland recently. Well done to all of you.
