Cwmbran Park Bowling Club

Preview of Season 2008

Preview of Season 2008

Last year was a memorable season with a successful celebration of the club's Seventy Five year History.

The four celebration matches against select Presidents Teams from the various governing bodies of our sport from around the Principality and not forgetting the celebrated Barbarians Team who travel far and wide for a game of bowls were all played in an excellent sporting manner.

For the record the series of celebration matches produced three victories and a draw.

Further success was achieved in regaining immediate promotion back to Division One of the Monmouthshire Bowling Association League Club Championship and the Leisure League Team who won the Eastern Valley Bowling Association Club Championship for the Fifth consecutive year and extended the club record to Eleven Championship Titles.

The other highlight of the season was the inaugural weekend tour to Torquay last September with our wives and friends.

This was the first tour in the clubs History and proved to be highly successful, so much so, the club is looking forward to touring Plymouth at the end of this season.

As a club we operate on a small membership therefore we could not have celebrated the season so well without the help of  past members and friends of the bowling fraternity who assisted us throughout a very busy season.

The club extends our grateful thanks to them.

To our local business associates a big thank you again for your continued support.

Our internet websites continue to prove popular, with site figures showing a steady increase in the number of visits.

Why not visit our historical website www.cwmbranparkbowlingclub.co.uk  |

To anyone who is interested in taking up the sport, why not come along to our club bowling green located at Cocker Avenue Leisure Park for a taster of the sport on members night held every Tuesday evening commencing 6.00pm, a warm welcome awaits you.

To old and new members I wish you all a very happy, healthy and successful season.

Preview of Season 2007

Season 2007 will be a very important year as we will be celebrating the 75th Anniversary of the clubs History.

In celebration we look forward to entertaining Presidents Teams whose players will be selected from other Bowls Clubs throughout the Principality including the celebrated Barbarians who will travel from far and wide for a game of bowls.

In September the club will round off the celebration of our 75th Anniversary with a weekend Bowls Tour to Torquay, accompanied by our wives and supporters.

Our past President W. G. Cook M.B.E. affectionately known throughout the locality as Billy M.B.E. retired after eleven loyal years service to the club we all wish him well in his 93rd year and he still enjoys playing his bowls.

Our new President is Don Peake, who has been our Vice President for many years; he and his family have been long standing loyal supporters of our club.

The officers and members wish him well and look forward to a long association in his new office.

To our local business associates and Cwmbran Community Council a big thank you again for your valued support.

To you all, enjoy this celebratory season and may your every bowl kiss the jack.

John Alford

Vice Chairman.

The club functions on a very small membership and are always on the lookout for anyone who wishes to take up the game from those who are already fully fledged bowlers to those who wish to learn.
