Carruthers Shield Welsh Bowling Association Club Champions 1979

The Final of the Carruthers Shield Club Championship of Wales was played at the Barry Athletic Bowling Club Green on Saturday 4th August 1979 against the defending Champions Tonypandy.

The match was played on an excellent playing surface in perfect conditions.

Although the game was tight throughout Cwmbran led the game from the first to the twenty first end and ran out winners by four (4) shots.

Yama - The mining art of Sakubei Yamamoto

Description:
At the age of seven years old, Sakubei Yamamoto (1892-1984) moved with his family to the coal mines of the Chikuho region in Kyushu. He was apprenticed to a colliery blacksmith at the age of twelve, and later worked as a mine blacksmith and coalminer until the age of 63 in 1955.
