Tour to the Isle of Wight 8th - 12th September 2011
For this years Club Tour our club members' wives, family and friends visited the Isle of Wight.
Our HQ for the weekend was the excellent Daish's Hotel in the quaint town of Shanklin.
Our first match was played on the Friday against Ventnor Bowling Club where on an excellent playing surface Cwmbran ran out winners by 15 shots (114 – 99).
On Saturday we were entertained by Totland Bay Bowls Club. The tour team carried on to win by 75 shots (156 – 81).
On Sunday our last match of the tour was played against the Isle of Wight Civil Service Bowls Club who use the facilities of Camp Hill Bowls Club.
The club is located outside the well known prisons of HMP Parkhurst, Albany and Camp Hill, an interesting location!
Cwmbran completed an unbeaten weekend by winning by 43 shots (99 – 56).
The weather throughout the weekend was kind to us and helped to complete yet again an excellent tour.
The hospitality of all the Bowls Clubs was excellent and created good memories of our tour to the Island.
As a club we operate on a small membership and would like to extend our grateful thanks to our friends, supporters and bowlers from other clubs within Cwmbran for helping to make the Tour possible.
As a club we now look forward to a return Tour to the popular resort Paignton Devon in September 2012.
