Spider Man 2
Once again we enter the world of Peter Parker alias Spiderman alias Toby Maquire. Spiderman is based on the classic Marvel comic book character.
We find Peter as an impoverished, down on his luck student who's hitting an all time low in his public and secret life. The press are out to crucify Spiderman with bad reports and are turning public opinion against him. The effort exerted in maintaining a spotless image as Spiderman is telling on the personal life of Peter and he begins to feel he is losing the battle.
Peter can't tell his friends, family or loved one's his predicament for fear of exposing them to the enemies of Spiderman.
So, reluctantly, he hangs up the red and black lycra bodysuit to give all his attention to his life as Peter Parker and his childhood sweetheart Kirsten Dunst. The on-off relationship between the couple provides the background for spellbinding special effects that make you wish that you could fly through the tower blocks of New York clad only in lycra.
The film is full of humour, sadness and pathos as we really start to identify with the characters. A particularly memorable moment on a speeding train is reminiscent of the recent Matrix films, so it's no surprise that one of the special effect team from the Matrix trilogy is involved in this film.
Happily for all us thrill seekers Peter takes on the mantle of Spiderman again as evil in the form of Doc Oc invades Peter's personal life.
A must see roller coaster of a film guaranteed to have you on the edge of your seats from beginning to end.
