We use alternative equipment for each investigaiton but this is a list of some of the equipment we use.
Environmental
1 x Aaronia Multidetector ll Electro smog EMF meter: Used to monitor the electromagnetic frequency of an area. Electromagnetic Fluctuations can cause some people to feel the conditions that are attributed to the paranormal such as Headaches, Nausea, the feeling of being watched and feeling cold, EMF's are present everywhere and are given off by electrical appliances such as TV's and Computers. Also the earth has its own magnetic field. This meter also includes an electric field sensor which can measure the electrical field. This meter isn't as sensitive as the natural EM meter.
1 x G-UK Advanced EMF meter: Used to monitor the electromagnetic frequency of an area. Also the earth has its own magnetic field. This type of EMF Meter is calibrated to 1 KHz. This means that it will only register readings above man made equipment so will only read natural EMF levels. This meter has an audio output so it can be connected to a laptop and monitored from a distance.
1 x 2G EMF Meter: This meter is exactly the same as the G-UK Meter but is named differently its used to monitor the electromagnetic frequency of an area. Electromagnetic Fluctuations can cause some people to feel the conditions that are attributed to the paranormal such as Headaches, Nausea, the feeling of being watched and feeling cold, EMF's are present everywhere and are giving off by electrical appliances such as TV's and Computers. 1 x Non Contact Laser thermometer: The thermometer emits a laser which measures the temperature at the point that the laser hits. Some investigators suggest that a rapid change of temperature can be caused by a ghost. The research we follow is that rapid changes of temperature can cause people to feel the conditions that can be mistaken as paranormal activity such as cold feelings and the hair standing on the back of your neck. This is a natural phenomena.
1 x 4 –in – 1 Environmental meter: This meter can measure the light intensity, sound level, humidity and temperature.
2 x Weather stations: These units can measure the humidity, temperature, upcoming weather and atmospheric pressure. These units also receive temperature readings from a wireless sensor which can be placed at a distance away from the main units.
2 x Temperature sensor: These sensors transmit the temperature from a location remotely back to the weather stations.
1 x Natural EM meter: This meter is a variation of the above EMF meters but does the following as well. This type of EMF Meter is designed to only monitor the earths natural magnetic field, it will set off an audible alarm when the field changes. It also can detect radio waves, electric fields and microwaves and will also set off an audible alarm when the fields change. This meter is so sensitive it can even detect the electricity that is given off by humans and animals.
1 x Radiac survey meter: This meter measures the radiation in the air. There are theories that suggest that ghosts can affect or give off radiation. We at R.I.P. South Wales personally use this piece of equipment to rule out all natural explanations including radiation poisoning that can lead to symptoms that are associated with paranormal experiences.
1 x Canum I Ultrasound Meter: This meter detects Ultrasonic frequencies and converts them to a frequency that can be heard by a human. The theory behind this meter is that dogs can seem to react oddly at locations that are alleged to have paranormal activity and the theory is that they are picking up on high ultrasonic frequencies that are affecting them. The meter is used to see if these frequencies are present and also it's used when audio is recorded so any high frequencies can be heard and any audio that has these frequencies on them can be ignored due to contamination.
1 x Negative Ion Detector: This meter detects negative Ions in the air and a light will flash and a tone will sound when negative ions are detected. The reason why this is used is because high levels of negative ions can cause a cooling affect which makes people feel cold. Also this meter detects electrostatic in the air which makes your hair stand on its end which can be attributed to paranormal activity.
Visual
We have various cameras which all serve the same purpose of monitoring and recording images and video
1 x Wireless CCTV camera

1 x Portable TV
4 x VCR: These are connected to TV's and Cameras to record the footage from the cameras.
1 x 15" Flat Screen TV: This is connected to our video recorders and cameras so we can monitor a location from a distance.
1 x 19" Flat Screen TV: This is connected to our video recorders and cameras so we can monitor a location from a distance.
3 x Digital Camera: Used to take photos of locations for mapping and to try to capture visual anomalies on camera.
1 x 4 Camera DVR System: This is a system where we can watch and record images from 4 cameras at the same time using one screen. The images are recorded onto a hard drive.
1 x Flat screen PC Monitor: This is connected to the DVR to view the images.
Audio
1 x Digital Dictation Machine: Used to record sounds at a location and possible to attempt to record EVP's.
1 x Analogue Dictation Machine: Used to record sounds at a location and possible to attempt to record EVP's
4 x Walkie Talkies: These are used so the team can remain in constant contact with each other.

Computing
1 x Desktop PC with Audacity software: The PC is connected to the G-UK Advanced EMF meter and the EMF meters fluctuations are recorded on the Audacity software that lets you monitor the audio level.
1 x Laptop: Used to input data.
Miscellaneous
1 x Motion alarm: This is placed in an area and if anyone crosses its IR beam then it will set off an audible alarm. This is used to eliminate fraud.
7 x Tripod / Mini Tripod: These are used to place cameras and various pieces of equipment on so a stable base can be applied at multiple heights and locations.
1 x Beam Barrier Motion Alarm: this is two pieces of equipment which are placed either side of a door way or corridor and an IR beam is sent between them. If this beam is broken then an alarm will sound. It use is the same as above.
With paranormal investigations you dont need mountains of equipment you just need to have an intrest and a basic knowledge of what you are going to do.
