Penllwyn Manor Inn
CLIENTS INVESTIGATION REPORT
LOCATION OF INVESTIGATION: Penllwyn Manor Inn, Penllwyn
INVESTIGATORS: Dave Murgatroyd & Gareth Mates
TIME OF INVESTIGATION: 9:30pm start, 2:00am Finish.
AVERAGE TEMPRETURE: 17 degrees Celsius outside and 18 degrees celsius inside.
EQUIPMENT USED :
2 x gaussmaster EMF meter: EMF stands for Electro Motive fluctuation and this measures the magnetic and electricity in the air or absorbed by a person.. An EMF meter is said to either detect spirits or to just measure the magnetic and electric that some research has suggested that high levels of either induces hallucinations headaches and nausea.. All things give off EMF’s such as TV’s, computers and electrical plugs.
1 x Natural EM meter: This meter is just like the above meter but is more advanced and cancels out any man made EMF’s. This meter only records natural EMF’s; this meter also has settings for measuring the electric in the air and radio waves. This meter is highly sensitive. The meter detects a change in any field from as little as 0.5%.
1 x 2G EMF Meter: This meter is the same as the Gaussmaster but cancels out the background radiation.
1 x Night vision CCTV camera: This is to record any activity.
1 x TV monitor.
1 x Laser thermometer: This thermometer measures the temperature at the tip of the lasers point.
1 x weather station with sensor: This appliance records temperature from two different locations, measures the humidity and baromic pressure.
,
1 x in out thermometer: This measures the temperature outside and in.
2 x digital cameras,
2 x digital dictation machine: This records audio in the location.
3 x torches.
A trigger object test is where a few simple shaped objects are set up on a piece of paper and then drawn around and left. There is a theory that if there is poltergeist activity then the objects may be moved.
EVP stands for electronic voice phenomena and this is where questions are asked openly to an location and recorded on a tape player or digital dictation machine and then played back to see if there is any unexplained noises or voices on the recording.
Method
When we refer to activity as unexplained we do not confirm that this is paranormal but that we can not find an explanation for the activity at this time
A pre—investigation analysis was not given.
This was the first time that the investigators attended the location.
Due to the time limit of the investigation al equipment except 2 x monitors & 2 x cameras
At 9pm the team started to set up our audio & visual equipment around the inn after receiving a tour of the location. There was one camera set up in total. The team commenced the investigation at 9:30pm after a few baseline readings were taken.
The investigators set up the control location in the function room situated across the hall from the kitchen. The control location consisted of 1 x TV video combo and 1 x weather station.
The natural EM meter was located at various points throughout the investigation; these included the restaurant and kitchen.
Investigation
The team encountered a strange fluctuation on the 2g EMF meter in the function room at about 9:30pm this reading was concluded as unexplained, at the same time a second EMF meter was able to pick up a reading at the same spots. These readings moved around the room and faded out after a few seconds, a man made EMF would stay fluctuate up and down but would not vanish completely.
At about 10:00pm the team visited the Attic and set up a trigger object test and a dictation machine, the attic was locked off. No activity was found in the attic.
The team took photos of the function room, restaurant and attic; a few anomalies were caught on camera.
A possible Cameo of a face
This is a photo of a securuity light but the thing that is on top of it was not there when the photo was taken
This light anomaly is strange due to the fact there was no lights to cause an reflection and there is a light across a lead pipeing in the window.
The team went down to the cellars to have a look around and take some photos; no anomalies were caught on tape.
At about 10:45pm a CCTV camera was set up in the restaurant and was connected to a video & TV combo in the function room, this was left to record.
The team went outside to take photos of the back of the Inn, no anomalies were found.
When the team went back in the building we observed and re corded on tape the camera that was set up in the restaurant was moved or hit by an unseen force, we checked to see if the floor was uneven or if the camera’s lead had been tugged but we concluded that there was no explanation for this.
At 11:10pm the team went down to the Bar and lounge area to take some photos and some readings, yet again no anomalies were caught on camera. A locked off video camera was set up in the cellar whilst the team sat in the lounge.
The team concluded the investigation at 1:50 am after all the equipment was collected.
Conclusion
After reviewing the evidence collected and assessing the location and environmental conditions on the night of the investigation R.I.P. South Wales have concluded that the location has some activity but only small amounts. Some incidences of the evening can be explained but about 10% cannot be explained.
Evidence collected: Anomalies on camera, influxes in Electro Motive Fluctuations and a small amount of poltergeist activity.
Further investigation at this location could benefit the group’s future findings.
Thank you very much for allowing R.I.P. South Wales to investigate your location

Photo explanation
On the photo enclosed there is a anomaly in one of the windows which we think could be an apparition, one explanation for this could be a shadow but the members of the team could not have cast the shadow.
The anomaly is in the middle of the first window pane on the far left of the photo, the pane furthest from the investigator on camera.
To avoid auto suggestion please see photo and see what you think before we tell you what we think the anomaly looks like and then carry on reading for our thoughts.
Our thoughts
We think that the anomaly is an apparition of some ones head from the side like a cameo; the team who were in the room were in different poses than the “shadow cameo”. As you can see on the photo the team member who is on camera has his hand to his head and so would not cast a shadow like the anomaly, the other member was away from the window so the shadow would not be cast by that member.
