Swansea FOT
June 14th and 15th 2008
The South Wales Festival of Transport 2008 in Swansea began on the Saturday 14th June. I travelled from Cwmbran to stay the weekend at the Gower on Friday the 13th but on the Saturday while getting ready to attend the Mumbles to Laugharne "Under Milk Wood Road Run" my Morris decided not to start.. After draining the battery I called out the AA only to be told that My Morris had "blown the Head gasket". I was towed back home and had parked the Morris back into it's garage.
I travelled back to the Gower feeling very down hearted. On the Sunday it was the Swansea Festival of Transports Show. I attended the show with Jacobs 1965 Hillman Super Minx and 1949 Velox Motor - bicycle.
A large show of classic cars Trucks and buses attended this event and I met and chatted to a few friends throughout the day.
Classic Car Clubs throughout Wales also attended and brought along some of their cars.
MG's, Bentleys, Fords, Skodas, American classics and Because it is a celebration of all things transport there were more modern day cars

Vintage Busses laid on bus rides to the Mumbles and back.
Police Traffic Dept. and the Fire brigade also allowed children to sit and view their vehicles.
Although we didn't see him, "Dell - Boy Trotter" had his famous yellow Robin Reliant under the trees.
A large display of heavy Haulage Trucks included these Classic 1950's Bedford Removal Truck and Recovery Tow Truck from Padfields of Swansea.
Amoungst the few Morris Minors there a Red Austin Morris LCV from "Carr's of Carlise" the biscuits makers took my liking.
I will now await for my Head gasket to be fitted so I can continue to attend more classic car shows in the next few months.
