Penallt
Penallt. Nr. Monmouth.
Sunday 20th July.
Another busy weekend for us. Today we were showing our Morris at Penallt. A little village just outside Monmouth. Although the show didn’t start till 1pm. We arrived at Penallt at 10.30am this gave us enough time to find the Village Cricket Ground which was much harder than it looked as most of the car show posters had blown down with the gusty winds that morning.
When we found the Cricket Ground we parked up next to Jacobs Hillman and the Shows organisers Citron. We were assured that this show would attract a lot of attention from other classic car clubs from around the surrounding areas. Shortly after setting up we were joined with another Morris Minor. A 1962 2dr saloon and then a 1930’s American Whippet.
This car looked fabulous and won the best car in show.
At the end of the day. Before 12.30 there were over 50 classic and vintage vehicles and by 1.30pm there were 85 – 95 cars there.
A prize for the oldest car was this 1915 Grant.
If there was going to be a prize for wreck of the show it might have gone to this early edition Morris Minor pick – up truck. Little is known about who owns it but as you can see it is still in daily use today.
