Morris Minors Club Challenge
Morris Minor Owners Club
60th. Anniversary Branch Challenge.
Sunday 13th July.
This year to mark both the 60th Anniversaries of the Morris Minor and the Marie Curie Cancer care, the Morris Minors Club have decided to raise much needed funds for it's chosen charity. Many Morris Minor Clubs will have organised events such as Classic Car Rallies, Sponsored Runs, Raffles and other Social events. Our Sth. Wales Branch met at it's meeting place "The Barn" in Llantristant on the Sunday 13th July. We were all lined up for a get together photograph before being given our routes and maps. Our branch decided to go on a all 60's drive where we pass 60 bridges, places of interest, pubs, and villages. We travelled mostly in convoy along the Heads of the Valley roads over the Merthyr mountains and onto our first stop where we took time to enjoy the pleasant views of the Brecon Beacon Mountains.
A Mid way stop for some Sunday Lunch at the New Inn restaurant in Brecon gave us another chance to show off our cars to the locals. After lunch and back onto the busy Mountain roads to Merthyr and onto Cardiff where most of the clubs owners peeled off and wandered on home.
Our branch consisted of six club Members with their Morris's another three Morris Minor owners who wanted to join us and a Triumph Herald owned by another of our Branch Member. Although we should have been counting the bridges, Pubs and Valley towns and Hamlets we were enjoying ourselfs to much to take note.
At this present time we haven't yet got a total for the Marie Curie Charity but it could be about £100. +
