Milford-Tenby Run 2008
September 7th 2008
The 11th Annual Pembrokeshire County Run.
This event was the High-light of my Car Showing Season for 2008. After receiving a telephone call back in Jan. 2008 from Mr Jeff Edwards, asking me if I would be able to lead out the parade of Classic vehicles taking part in this years run. Because of a heavy show season, I had to try and pace myself throughout the coming months. In August I started to panic as my engine started to give me trouble. With a small army of good friends in the Morris Minor Owners Club behind me they got me to the start-line at Milford Haven. As the Morris Minors were celebrating it's 60th. Anniversary this year. Jeff and wife Sian Edwards planned this popular County run with all the Morris Minors up front followed by all the other classic vehicles behind us. With the week leading up to the weekend of this run, Wales and most of Great Britten had suffered torrential rain with some places under water. The Pembrokeshire County Run attracts over the 500 vehicles but with the weather causing havoc everywhere numbers were slightly down. When I arrived at Milford Haven my Morris was conveyed on a trailer, we just managed to make the starting time of 10am, enough time to dress the car and have a few Photographs before leading the parade.
With major engine trouble we slowly made our way through the streets of Pembrokeshire to the town of Goodwick. After a quick stop to stretch our legs and have a well earned cup of tea we headed off to sunny Tenby. Although the Run was a well planned 85 mile tour of West Wales, we made good time. By 1.30pm we managed to crawl into North Beach Tenby. A welcome by the Mayoress and other officials and more photographs. There was enough time to have a wander around and meet up with friends we made when we took part in last years run.
Without the help of Godfrey Crew, Brian and his wife Maureen and Sandra and Keith
(from the MG Owners Club) we couldn't have made this fantastic tour of Pembrokeshire.
Thanks should also be said to Mr Jeff Edwards and his wife Sian. for inviting us to lead this fantastic Run.
