Ford Model Y & C Car Club

The Ford Y & C model Register was formed in 1979 to ensure the survival of the first "little fords of Europe" the 8hp model "Y", manufactured between August 1932 and August 1937 and the deluxe 10 hp models "C" and "CX" manufactured between September 1932 and March1937.

Identification

There are two basic models catered for by the club, the Model Y and the Model C. The Y (1932 to 1937) being the 8HP and the C (1934 to 1937) the 10HP. The Model Y range included Two and Four Door saloons and a Van, plus for a short time a three wheeled version suitable door to door deliveries involving trailer towing. This version was known as the Tug.

In 1933 the styling was changed, panels affected included the radiator grille and mudguards. Vehicles built prior to this restyle have become known as Shortrad's and the later version as Longrad's. The Model C range also had an update in 1935 and the designation was changed from C to CX.

The external revisions mainly affect the radiator grille and the bonnet sides. The C has a plain vertical bar grille with a chrome surround and the hood sides have horizontal louvres and one locking handle whilst the CX has a grille with 4 chrome chevrons in addition to the surround and also has bonnet sides with vertical louvres with 3 chrome strips and two locking handles.
