The construction trade is perhaps commonly associated with sweaty men and wolf whistles.
But the industry could cultivate an altogether softer, more feminine image if a new project being launched by a Gwent council takes off.
The scheme is aimed at encouraging women to become brickies, plumbers or carpenters and is starting in Abersychan. Organisers hope to build confidence in women and improve their skills by getting women, including mums and housewives, to train.
The Garnstruction Project - a joint endeavour by Torfaen County Borough Council and development charity the Garnsychan Partnership - is a £600,000 scheme with several new programmes including gardening, IT and crafts.
