Hundreds Of Youngsters Set To Make Music

Hundreds of young musicians will take to the stage this weekend for the annual Music for Youth Regional Festival

More than 70 groups will perform at the Gwent Music Support Service event, including choirs, brass bands, big bands, string orchestras, wind bands, steel pans, African drum ensembles, jazz ensembles, keyboard ensembles and folk trios.

All groups will be trying to impress the judges at County Hall, Cwmbran, and gain an invite into the National Festival which will be held in the Symphony Hall, Birmingham in July.

Successful groups could get the chance to perform at the Schools Prom at the Royal Albert Hall in November.

The marathon Gwent event will be held between 9am and 7pm on Saturday and Sunday.
