TWO Gwent towns will be visited later this month by Prince Edward, the Earl of Wessex.
The prince will be coming to Pontypool Museum on Wednesday March 21 to officially relaunch it, following a major £500,000 revamp.
It is the first redevelopment of the museum since it was opened by the Prince of Wales in 1980. The work was funded by Cadw and the Heritage Lottery Fund.
Curator Debbie Wildgust said all the staff and volunteers are looking forward to the occasion.
"This will be the Earl of Wessex's first visit to the museum and we are very excited to be meeting him.
"The Earl of Wessex will be invited to unveil a plaque commemorating the occasion which will be displayed in the viewable storage area."
Prince Edward is to tour the museum and will meet those involved in the work and also volunteers and museum trustees.
He will also visit Coleg Gwent's Usk Campus, where he will meet students taking part in a triathlon event as part of the Duke of Edinburgh awards.
