Mae yna bobl ymroddedig yng Ngwent sydd wedi treulio eu hoes yn gweithio'n ddiflino er mwyn hyrwyddo yr iaith a'r diwylliant Cymraeg a Chymreig. Sefydlwyd Newyddion Gwent ddwy flynedd yn ol i gefnogi eu gwaith. Mae'r cynydd yn y nifer o blant yng Ngwent sy'n cael eu haddysg trwy gyfrwng y Gymraeg (dros 5000 o ddisgyblion) yn llwyddiant ysgubol. Mae yna nifer o oedolion yn dysgu Cymraeg yn awr hefyd.
Mae'r iaith Gymraeg yn cyfrannu yn bositif tuag at fywyd cymdeithasol, a phrif bwrpas Newyddion Gwent yw i hyrwyddo yr iaith fel un sy'n seiliedig ar y gymuned (bydd ffyniant yr Iaith yn dibynnu arno) ynghyd a helpu ehangu y rhwydweithiau sy'n gwneud hyn yn bosibl.
Mae cymunedau yn trefnu digwyddiadau ac yn hyrwyddo ac yn noddi gweithgareddau y mae pobl yn cael budd ohonynt, ac wrth wneud hyn maent yn ysbrydoli pobl eraill i wneud yr un peth. Un o amcanion allweddol Newyddion Gwent yw i adrodd ac i ddangos yr hyn sy'n digwydd i ysbrydoli a helpu pobl eraill. Mae rhestr syml o ddigwyddiadau yn angenrheidiol.
There are many dedicated people in Gwent who have devoted years of hard work to develop the Welsh Language and Culture, and it is in support of their hard work the paper was established 2 years ago. The increase in the number of children receiving education through the medium of Welsh in Gwent, for example, (over 5000 pupils) is a huge achievment. Many adults are also learning Welsh.
The Welsh Language contributes positively to community life, and the development of a community based language (upon which the future prosperity of the Welsh language will depend) is a prime aim of Newyddion Gwent, together with helping to expand the networks that make this possible.
Communities arrange events and promote and sponsor activities that benefit people and in so doing inspire others to do likewise. A key objective of the paper is to report and show what is taking place to give help and encouragement to others. A simple events schedule listing what is going on is a prerequisite.
