National Poetry Day 2005

World Around Us By Carol Wheeler

Midnight

in the rain

Alone in the dark

listening to the splintering

of liquid on my window pane.

Through the waterfall I imagine you.

I know where you live

but I can't reach you

still I know when I see you

you'll look into my eyes

the window to my soul

save me from the cold

and wrap your world

around us
