National Poetry Day 2005

A Cry For The Environment By Audrey Donaghue

The environment needs to be tackled worldwide,

By combined work and effort by folk from all sides.

With pollution increasing day after day,

The prospect looks bleak and full of dismay.

Our rivers are full of old junk and waste,

Where folks throw their litter when in a haste.

They say, "live for today not for tomorrow".

Whilst those who care deeply are full of real sorrow.

The world would be such a beautiful place.

If mankind droopped out of this mad hectic race.

This race for posession of  goods at all cost,

Whilst our world slowly dies and life's meaning is lost.
