National Poetry Day 2004

Glorious Food by Anon

Mam’s favourite food is fish and chips,

Guaranteed to put pounds on the hips.

She eats them outside in the fresh air,

Where she feels free and without a care.

Dad’s quite partial to a nice mixed grill,

But not so keen on paying the bill,

So he rarely goes out for a nosh,

But when he does he dresses up posh.

Granny loves nothing better than tripe,

Followed by strawberries fresh and ripe.

She likes to eat sat at the table,

Whilst reading facts on the bottle label.

Granddad loves good old sausage and mash,

A good meal to have as he’s short of cash.

He eats his meal in front of the telly,

Chomping his food whilst filling his belly.

Teenagers hate traditional meals,

Having to conform just makes them reel.

Teenagers like to go to Mc. Donalds,

Eat burgers, and chips and eat up at Ronalds.

A poetry site that encourages people to participate by sending in their contributions.
