Friendship 2 … Friday Feelings … by Nigel (aka the Tin Dog)

Friday evening once again … warm and dry … no sign of rain.

Gentle stroll … no need to rush … I make my way up to the Bush.

Grab a beer … then sit and wait … the rugby match kicks off at eight.

The pub is in a party mood … I even hear there may be food.

Two of the barmaids in grass skirts … some others in Hawaiian shirts.

Arriving later … Gwyn and Ken … my mate DP and dear friend Wen.

And as the rugby first half ends … I grab a chair and join my friends.

Plum Porter or the Golden Wheat … the local beers go down a treat.

A band is playing in the bar … who knows, one day they may go far.

Hot dogs, burgers … lots to munch … but none for me … I've had my lunch.

Springboks triumph in the rugger … beating poor England … oh b* * * * r !

A bad result … and that's a shame … but after all … it's just a game.

But life has more important things … than full backs, scrum halves, props and wings.

Friends to talk to … friends who care … friends whose hopes and dreams you share.

They leave you feeling warm and snug … with soothing words or gentle hug.

Relieving stress and calming fears … in times when you are close to tears.

That's what friendship is all about … when feeling lonely … or left out.

Developing that special bond … that even stretches 'cross the pond.

Still sensing feelings and emotion … when separated by an ocean.

So near or far … it's clear to see … what friendship really means to me.
