Beer, Quizzes and Grub

Another Thursday evening … and it's to the pub I trek,

Well actually I get a lift … but that don't rhyme … so heck.

First it's time to grab a beer and play the quiz machine,

We win some cash … but no payout … how can it be so mean ?

The landlord gives a refund … to refuse would be quite rude,

Now looking for a table … and ordering some food.

There's a corner table empty … so rapidly we take …

Our seats … and grab a menu … and think about a steak.

The meals arrive quite quickly … there's plenty here to savour,

A lovely piece of chicken … with a sauce of mushroom flavour.

The meals now completed … it's time for H's quiz,

A set of fifty questions … that's just the way it is.

Two others join our table … the team is now complete.

We are the reigning champions … the ones you have to beat.

With a crackin' score of forty … we really thought we'd won,

Then 'H' announces that another team has forty one !

We lost the quiz, but never mind … no need to shed a tear,

It's not yet half eleven … so there's time for one more beer.

Another night of quizzing, entertainment, beer and grub.

And finally round midnight … it's time to leave the pub.
