Gwent Wordsmiths

Gwent Wordsmiths

Biography

Image of the three members of Gwent Wordsmiths Clive Evans, Lyndon House and Terry Baldwin

Our writing group was formed as a result of the "Stonebreakers" project organized by Torfaen Borough Council for Millennium year.

This project ran throughout that year and offered a mentor to help anyone interested in all aspects of writing - stories, poems plays, songs etc.

Newport poet Goff Morgan had worked with us individually throughout the year and when the project ended three of us decided we would like to form our own writing group. Goff helped us draw up a Constitution and we have been meeting regularly ever since.

We are there to provide support and feedback for each other and to offer suggestions and positive criticism.

Writing can be a very solitary activity with little if any feedback so we find great value in being able to share our work.

Probably the most rewarding aspect of Gwent Wordsmiths has been our decision to go out into the community and read our work to an audience. Our audiences have included local clubs and societies, sheltered housing complexes and the Dolman Theatre in Newport.
