The Lake District
Probably too broad a subject to cover in a page. We stayed in the north of the lakes, at " The Quiet
Site ", a good well priced and friendly site. Their bar is a converted sixteen century pig stye, ousing character.
The evenings can be a bit nippy so even in June a log fire was in operation. The fire was usually a rip roarer, and would encourage a circle of fellow campers to gather round; which made for some good evening banter.
We used this place as a base to tour. Had the weather been warmer we would have stayed longer.
I enjoyed taking the bike on Lake Conniston on the ferry, last to arrive in the queue, first to get off the boat and we only paid about a pound whereas cars paid about four pounds.
Plenty of places to visit and lots to see, a week isn't enough time.
