Hi fellow readers
Time at last to catch up on the club news.
As stated before we now start sailing at 09.00am on a Sunday morning, until1.00 pm.
(Most Modellers are present between 10.00am and 12.00pm)
Our Wednesday sailing time once again starts at 12.00pm.
(Society members tend to turn up after 12.30pm and leave at 3.30pm)
THe Society's OPEN DAY for 2011 made it into print, the event was entered in the January edition of Marine Modelling International by Chris Saunders, (MMI page 43). Other clubs who made it on the day also had a mention, along with the RNLI.
The new year 2012 has started well for the society, may be down to some fine weather, or may be not. Up to now we have had an excellent turn out of society members with and without boats on our Sunday morning visits. The max turn out was in the order of 26 members with some 20 boats on the water of all types. Wednesday's have been a bit thin on the banks with society members, mainly due to a lack of wind. Most of the models seen on the lake on this day are of the sailing type.
The last event for this year 2011 was our Christmas Sail in December (11th and 18th to be held on both Sundays). Every one ithat turned up made the most of both days with Christmas nibbles and drinks, handed out to several of our regular lookers on. Have pictures of the event off our Chairman and his wife, but have not had chance to look at them.
We have several new members lined up for the comming year, most are in the process of obtaining or making a model boat for that time after our AGM when the membership list will be reopened, several are already sailing with us. One of the new members, a retired newspaper cameraman has managed to take some excellent photos of the models on the lake, trying to obtain some Jpegs off him of the pictures he's taken.
The society will be holding an evening sail on the 15th February 2012 with the same format as the November event.
Start time around 4pm ?
Here's wishing our readers who are interested in what ever hobby activity they wish to follow fine weather, good health, plenty of spare time with family members that are prepared to support them with their hobby / sport, of their choice.
