      Hi fellow readers

Well we are now well into February, where has the year gone so far. Here's hoping you have managed to get in some sailing over the last few weeks.

For those not in the know, the boating lake boathouse and toilets that were burnt down have now been replace with a new unit. The area around the lake boathouse area is once again fenced off for safety reasons, so the society members have again lost access to their normal deep water launching point. This has resulted in the members having to use the silt ponds to sail their boats. With the boathouse still not officially opened we still have a long walk through the park to the toilets at the other end, In all putting a bit of a damper on society sailing.

The Society held it's AGM on Monday 15th February, replacement elected officers being found from those present on the night. Derek (chair) and Colin (Sec) had informed the society well in advance of their retirement from office. We, the Society thank them for the work they have done on behalf of the Society and wish them both all the best for the future.

The elected officers for the society are now

Brian (chair), myself Ralph (sec) and Len (treasure).

This year we also elected a vice chair, Eric, to assist Brian with his duties.

Derek offered to act as auditor for the year in place of Len.

The Society also set this year fee for new Senior members @ £10.00

Existing members will be informed of their new rate by post.

The society also agreed in principle to support the other local Model clubs on their open days.

Due to adverse reports from members on the organisation of last years Bridgend show in April, the society was unable to obtain support from it's members to support this years show.

Our first show will therefore be at Shepton Mallet for the South West Model Engineering, Model Making and Hobbies Exhibition on the 17th & 18th April. They have an excellent web page |setting out their two-day event, and it's well worth a visit.

We have penned in the following date for the Society's

OPEN SAILING DAY on 5th September 2010.

(Provided we can obtain the required support from members and the council)

Due to the actions taken by a few active and lapsed members that now wish to only sail at Tredegar House Lake and have obtained insurance cover for their activities from the Friends of Tredegar House. This being stated by their representative that the insurance was part of their F.T.H. membership. We the Society wish these modellers well with their new venture.

As the above now sail outside the required rules and regulations set out by the Society and as we have the possibility of obtaining sailing times on Wednesdays on our own lake. We the Society are now placed in a position, reluctantly, where we can no longer allow blanket use of our insurance to be used by any Society member wishing to sailing on Wednesdays or any other day at T.H. Lake. This does not stop any member requesting permission in advance from the Society for insurance cover to sail on specific dates at any venue that the society cannot fully support.

Here's wishing our readers who are interested in what ever hobby activity they wish to follow fine weather, good health, plenty of spare time with family members that are prepared to support them with their hobby / sport, of their choice.
