Hi fellow readers
Wednesday 14th July sees the official opening of the Boat house at lakeside. Several of the Society members hope to be at the lake at 12.30pm to witness this event and also to get in a little extra sailing time. The Society provided there are no hang ups have verbally been given the use of the lake on a Wednesday afternoons, provide nothing else has been planed for the period by the council.
Sunday 18th July we will see the majority of our members attending the Woodspring Open Day at Portishead. When we visit this club we are always given a warm welcome by the club members. If you decide to join us pack your warm and wet gear as well as your dry. The lake being right on the coast tends to have a constant wind blowing, great for the sailing boats.
The next planned day for the Society boats |to be available for public use on the silt ponds at lakeside will be the 25th July 2010.
The first show of the year went well with lots of support from Society members. Those club members that bought club jumpers and hats made it more of a team outing, with positive comments being made by others attending the venue.
The second show at Cardiff was a bit cold and windy, some members managed to sail in sheltered areas of the lake. The main part of the lake seemed at times to have waves running on top of waves. If we didn't sail as often as we would have liked we all enjoyed the day out. At least we caught up with fellow modellers from other clubs.
The elected officers for the society are now
Brian (chair), myself Ralph (sec) and Len (treasure).
This year we also elected a vice chair, Eric, to assist Brian with his duties.
Derek offered to act as auditor for the year in place of Len.
