Youth Activities
Making a CD
At the beginning of January we started putting together a CD at Dragon Bands. We have been able to do this through funding from the Communities First Trust Fund. All the youths are performing in the ensemble or as soloists and the CD promises to be an excellent tribute to their hard work. It will be on sale locally sometime in the future to raise funds for the Ensemble, so watch this space….!
The Youth Ensemble members have had a busy time over the past few months. In December we sang at the Church Carol Service and entertained the residents of Plas-y-Garn, which was good fun. We were given sweets and refreshments from the residents of Play-y-Garn which was kind of them.
Acheivements
Again, some of the youths have obtained excellent results in their music exams. Sioned passed her Prep exam for piano. Helena passed her Grade 5 drums and her Grade 6 Theory. Daisy achieved a merit in her Grade 6 Jazz Clarinet exam and a distinction in her Grade 8 Flute. Daisy has received many offers from prestigious specialist music colleges for September 2008. Many others members of the ensemble are now preparing for exams in March so good luck to all.
The Youth met through the Summer to rehearse for the Autumn Festival. The highlight was a visit to Drayton Manor Theme Park, much enjoyed by all.
The TFC Music Ensemble with their family and friends visited Drayton Manor Theme Park on Friday 31st August 2007. A good day was had by all and everyone is looking forward to a return visit next summer!!
This trip was made possible due to the funding the Youth Ensemble has received as a reward for the good work they do for the community.
In July they went to see the Starlight Express at Bristol, one of many shows that they have seen.
The Youth Ensemble rehearses for small concerts in old peoples homes, the family service at Trevethin Church and other activities as called for. In 2005 they raised money at a concert for the Tsumami victims.
In May the Trevethin Festival Youth Ensemble hosted a social evening for a group of 8 students and their teacher from Sweden in St Cadoc's Church. Both Groups entertained the audience captivating them with their contributions. This was followed by a lovely buffet put on by friends and family and the youths from both groups sat and talked as they socialized.
It was great to see the youths interacting and they were really curious about each other's country and loads of questions were being asked. E-mail addresses were exchanged and a firm link and friendship was established.
