History
Saxology was formed in 2005 by six students of The Music Studio in Abergavenny. Their tutor, Pete Scaddon, was running a workshop and asked the members if they wanted to form a group to play in a charity gig. All the members were at approximately the same stage in learning the saxophone and after enjoying playing the charity gig decided to form a band - hence Saxology.
Over the four years we have developed several sets of music that we enjoy playing, and have played in a number of venues such as the Raglan Music Festival, the Melville Theatre in Abergavenny, Brecon Jazz Festival and the Kings Arms in Abergavenny at the Food Festival, receiving warm audience feedback and press coverage.
Three of the original founder members are still remaining in the band with the addition of a fourth alto sax player, a bass guitarist, a rhythm guitarist, a drummer and a singer.
We are currently looking for a keyboard player.
The band meet and practice once a week and are actively seeking more gigs to play.
