Musicians set to hit rock bottom by Laura Evans
A concert to showcase local talent is being set up to help up and coming musicians in Torfaen.
BOTTOM - Best Of Torfaen's Talented Overlooked Musicians, will be held at the Congress Theatre, Cwmbran on Tuesday.
The concert is the idea of Mike Spokes, who says the Torfaen music scene is not being exploited.
"We have so many talented youngsters in the area and they are just not getting the recognition they deserve," said Mr Spokes.
"There are some really good bands in the area as well as young musicians but they have nowhere to share that talent.
"I decided to do something about it by setting up this gig.
"That way we can not only provide these musicians somewhere to perform, we can also raise their profile."
Mr Spokes says live music should be embraced in the community.
"There is nothing better than going to see a live band. We have them in the area but they are not getting seen because they don't have a venue.
"The idea of BOTTOM is to raise enough money to put towards more concerts, creating a live music scene for the area."
Artists include 15-year-old guitarist Nathan Tredgold from Cwmbran and band nOneknows, as well as various other punk, indie, rock, blues and acoustic acts.
The concert starts at 7pm, tickets are on sale at the Congress Theatre at £3 each and for further information call 01633 868239.
