Opening Page
This story came to light on our visit to The Wirral recently when a lady handed an envelope to our M.D. Gareth before our concert, which contained this photo and letter.
To the Choir from Jennifer Duncan.
My Grandfather, Evan Williams was conductor of your Choir. He died at 32 Park St Blaenavon in the Autumn of 1933. His wife was, I believe, the pianist (but I am not sure if she is in the photo).
T(homas). D(avid) Williams and Haydn Williams were Evan's sons. They both went to New Zealand c.1921. My mother was the eldest of their five sisters. They were all school teachers.
My brother brought his American wife and me to one of your rehearsals at the top of Park Street about 10 years ago. You sang "Myffanwy" for us - of course!
I have some further information on the choir if it would be of use to you.
My kind friends asked me to the concert tonight; they and I had no idea that you were from Blaenavon or that Evan Williams was connected with me. Amazing.
