Torfaen Tales

Making an Entrance

Rachel was thrilled with her invitation to the first night of the theatre group’s new play. She’d made the costumes as their usual seamstress was in hospital, and was looking forward to seeing her efforts on stage.

On the first night a cocktail party was being held, and those who’d helped behind the scenes as well as the actors were being presented to the Mayor.

Rachel took her best friend Cassie shopping for the perfect dress. Many footsore hours later they returned home with their mission accomplished.

Rachel spent over two hours getting ready for the occasion. With her taxi hooting outside she made a final appraisal in the full-length mirror: stunning!

There was an excited buzz in the foyer as guests awaited their presentation to the Mayor. Feeling nervous, Rachel nipped to the loo before joining the queue.

Finally, her moment came. She moved forward with her head high, shook the Mayor’s hand and exchanged a few words as camera flashes sealed her moment of glory.

She felt a tweak at the back of her dress and looked round. The director looked embarrassed.

“Sorry, Rach. Just noticed your dress was caught up in your knickers. You’re OK now, though.”
