Land of My Fathers Poetry Club

When they entered Baghdad

When they entered Baghdad
I cheered with the rest
It was a onderful moment
And filled me with such zest

It seemed the voice of freedom
Was ringing through the air
Saddam had been defeated
In his downfall we all shared

But now many weeks have passed
And salt has filled many wounds
The victory was empty
The voice of war still looms

The victors now, not wanted
Are targeted with hate
They have become the jailers
Of one more American state

They won the war but lost the peace
If only they could see
The people don't want a Saddam
Mark two
They just want to be free
